LOUSADA CRESTS
The various examples of
Losada and Lousada heraldry shown here bear no
apparent relation to the
lizards and stone slabs of the old Spanish
de Losada nobility. While the
arms of
the 5 Lousada Dukes are
similar to the Duque's arms they are not the same.
This situation arose because Emanuel
Baruh Lousada #87 obtained his arms
in 1777 ie before the Duque died in 1783 and he was probably
required to distinguish his arms from
those of the Duque; this of course was
the opposite of what the Dukes wanted in 1848 when there was no Duque de Losada!
