Peter Lousada pointed out by email on 10 Apr 2015 that the title of Marchese de Lousada de San Miniato that was bestowed by the Grand Duke of Tuscany upon Francis Lousada in 1846 was thought to have been paid for while the recipient’s wife was a lady-in-waiting to the Grand Duchess in London. The image (below left) refers to this latter circumstance. Relevant records in the Florence Archive were made available to us by Matteo Giunti, and these records revealed that she had to provide her ancestry as well.

Francis Lousada was Her Majesty's Consul for Rhode Island and Massachusetts when he died in Boston in 1870. There are many records of his exploits as HM Consul in Boston in UK National Archives.

Ref 85 shows him to have been at St Paul's School 11 Apr 1825 aged 11.
